Tencel is increasingly the fabric of choice for the ethical and conscious minded. It’s light and versatile, and is now widely used in bedding and sports clothing. What is Tencel? How is Tencel Made? How does Tencel impact the environment?Tencel is a cellulose fibre, which is made by dissolving wood pulp and using a special drying process called spinning. Before it is dried, wood chips are mixed with a solvent to produce a wet mixture. The mixture is then pushed through small holes to form threads, which is then chemically treated and the lengths of fibre are spun into yarn and woven into cloth. Tencel has incredible absorption characteristics and is 50% more absorbent than cotton. Because they’re more breathable and less susceptible to odorous bacteria growth, these fabrics are perfect for bedding and sports activewear. Like cotton and bamboo, Tencel is made from plant materials. Manufacturing Tencel requires less energy and water than cotton. As a naturally derived fibre, Tencel is also biodegradable.
The Flower Endorsement guarantees that these fibres meet the highest standards of performance and environmental quality.
What is Suprelle?Suprelle® is created using recycled bottles and aids in reducing significantly the amount of plastic going to landfill and other non-ECO friendly disposal avenues. Innovative & sustainable manufacturing processes, using less CO2 land and water to make the duvet fibres that help you sleep so beautifully. The recycled plastic bottles are collected from across Europe and reprocessed into a microfibre. On average a total of 20 plastic bottles will produce enough fibres to make a pillow or 120 bottles for a duvet and this in turn saves millions of bottles a year going to landfill. The origin of every fibre bale is fully traceable so that the highest ethical standards are maintained and ensure that no children are used in the collection of bottle waste.
This high quality synthetic range delivers everything you expect from a microfibre blend filling. Wrapped in a beautifully soft 300 thread count cotton case with a filling that is light, soft, and drapes and lofts beautifully, this Microfibre and Tencel mix washes incredibly well and is quick-drying to boot! Soft and breathable, it is available in all the togs and sizes you need.
