What is GSM Grams Per Square Metre?

GSM is like thread count, but it is measuring the weight of the fabric rather than how many threads in the fabric. The higher a fabrics GSM, generally the thicker, more luxurious and hard wearing it is. GSM is actually a more precise way of measuring quality as thread count can sometimes be counted on the fibres rather than the threads to inflate the thread count.

Bedding such as jersey, flannel, flannelette, brushed cotton and linen traditionally are measured in GSM.

Our Jersey sheets and pillowcases are 140GSM which is a really good quality as it is also 100% cotton & organic.
Secondly our deluxe jersey melange is 160GSM which is super smooth and a little thicker.
Next we have our superb quality 160GSM brushed cotton, called velvet touch for a reason. It is 100% BCI Better Initiative Cotton and better than most brushed cottons as it is from the Portugal the home of flannelette.
The best of the best is our superior 210GSM 100% organic flannelette. It's thick, its incredibly soft and it is at another level of flannelette.
Finally our 140GSM pre washed 100% pure linen. Linen doesn't want to be too heavy as it is meant to be a light and airy summer fabric. So 140GSM is the perfect weight and the pre wash just makes it that much softer.
