What is a Duvet Tog? | Duvet Tog Guide
TOG stands for Thermal Overall Grade and it's not as confusing as it sometimes appears. A duvet's tog rating refers to it's warmth not its weight. The higher the tog rating the warmer the duvet.
Traditionally you chose a duvet tog depending on the season, a 4.5 tog for summer, a 10.5 tog for spring / autumn and a 13.5 tog for winter. However things have changed, climate, heating, and there are so many togs now so you can really choose what suits you.
More and more in the UK the American style quilts are becoming popular. They are not as obsessed with togs and go for a light weight, mid weight and winter weight.
Cool low tog duvets are perfect for summer nights 2.5 - 6 Togs
The ever reliable spring / autumn duvets 9 - 12 Togs
High togs are the ultimate winter duvets 13.5 - 20 Togs
