New 100% Recycled Eco Down Pillow Pair

Well this is quite something! Down makes lovely pillows but in this age of conscious consuming, we can all tread more lightly. Which is why these rather marvellous recycled down pillows ticks all the boxes. Instead of using new resources, we've regenerated used material and created a circular economy system that changes waste into value. Turns out you can be an eco-warrior even when you're sleeping.

Your Regenerated Pillows. Regenerated using environmentally friendly practices, the carbon footprint of these pillows is lower when compared to the production of traditional naturally-filled pillows. The Eco Down has a 550 fill-power goose and duck down that is reclaimed from preloved designer down filled jackets, bedding and other used items that can’t be resold. Fill power is a measure of the loft or "fluffiness" of a down product that is loosely related to the insulating value of the down. The higher the fill power, the more air a certain weight of the down can trap, and thus the more insulating ability the down will have.

Lots of small changes can contribute towards something significant. We’re starting here - with eco-friendly Pillows that help sleepy-heads get a good night’s sleep while minimizing our impact on the planet. Pillows don’t last forever, so when it’s time for you to get a new one, choose one that respects the planet. Our eco-friendly Pillows use post-consumer waste, helping reduce the amount of waste that goes into landfill, that’s burned or that ends up in our natural environment. And not only that, re-using materials instead of producing them from scratch means a more respectful use of our natural resources. Recycled products use less water, fewer chemicals and less carbon. Integrating our Eco Down into our supply chain took a bit of legwork. There was already a market in Europe for Eco Down and feathers, but it took some time to find partners that were able to meet the high-quality standards. One of our goals is to increase the amount of recyclable down products. We want to supply products that are easier to recycle. Here at the linen cupboard we are constantly trying to become more ethical and more environmentally responsible, we understand the important of this. This is why we have brought in our Eco Down fill. We know you will love the snug yet breathable warmth of our Eco Friendly down Pillow. We’ve carefully picked, washed and dried pre-used down front designer down filled jackets so it’s revived and ready for you to snuggle up with.

A pure down pillow is one of life’s fluffiest and softest pleasures, so can you imagine our joy and cartwheeling when we found this sustainable, 100% recycled filling to make our Eco Down Pillows. We are as keen to find ways to support the circular economy (using resources more than once) as we are on an early night and this filling ticks all of the circular economy boxes.

Filled with down, this pillow not only feels like the finest, softest pillow in town, but when you turn out the lights, you can rest your head on one of these with a very clear conscious knowing that your pillow is certified with the NVP Traceability Standard and the filling process has been audited to guarantee ethical sourcing of down. Our Eco Down Pillow is 100% biodegradable. The result of hand extracting from “end of life” products, is a filling made up of a mixture of down species all taken from garments and pre loved bedding that has no use to a sound sleeper anymore.

The filling is recovered from high end garments & sleep products across Europe, sanitised and regenerated by very clever people with clever environmentally friendly machines. The process to turn the down clusters back into grade one filling does not use any environmentally harmful products, and in turn creates a warm, breathable, light, clean and super luxurious filling. This pillow is wrapped in a soft 233 thread count, 100% cotton cover with a piped trim for long-lasting quality. It's also Nomite and Downafresh certified, meaning the filling is made to the highest welfare and hygiene standards, and the cover is almost impenetrable to dust mites, so even allergy sufferers can drift off in peace. This fab filling is also Hypoallergenic
