At The Linen Cupboard, we’re doing things differently to provide you with a sustainable alternative to Beautiful Bedding styles that don’t cost the earth.
CREATED RESPONSIBLY
We care about how our products are made and we know who makes them. At The Linen Cupboard we're committed to reducing our impact on the environment. To do this we are currently changing all our ranges to sustainable, ethical, responsible bedding with eco-friendly packaging. We want the UK to wake up to a better more Eco Friendly Night’s Sleep. The UK is rightly waking up to the link between a good night’s sleep and improved physical and mental well being, however improving and helping the environment is also very important. Decreasing our carbon footprint and being as sustainable and environmental responsible as possible is incredibly important to everyone at The Linen Cupboard.
Sustainability is important for many reasons including, Environmental Quality – In order to have healthy communities, we need clean air, natural resources, and a nontoxic environment. Using plastics can be harsh on the Environment, however we have great recycled plastic alternatives. We try to keep our plastic consumption to a bare minimum, however when we use plastics we try to use non toxic Eco Friendly ones. Plastic isn't always bad as long as you use the right kind here at The Linen Cupboard we invest and put a lot of research into making all our packaging more sustainable and more environmentally responsible.
Almost all our boxes and cartons that bring stock into our warehouse are re-used to send goods out of our warehouse. A great way to recycle, cutting out the need for us to buy new packaging, also as a result we produce very little waste. All of our mailing bags we use are a minimum of 50% consumer recycled waste polythene, but we are currently changing to green 100% recycled & biodegradable versions. All of the mailing bags contain biodegradable properties. A positive result of this is even if the bags end up anywhere other than a landfill site you can be safe in the knowledge that over a short period of time the bag will start to degrade and bio- degrade.
Providing Sustainable and Environmentally Friendly products is very important to us, here at the Linen Cupboard we have a great selection of sustainable bedding. Our Selection of 100% Sustainable Cotton Products are a great choice, sustainable sourcing refers to how a cotton crop is grown and harvested. The practice of sustainable sourcing takes into account environmental, social, economic, and ethical factors to create a responsible product from seed to sale.
Sustainable and Responsible DownThinking sustainably means thinking responsibly and ensuring that every feather in our British Made down bedding is ethically sourced. To have a responsible down standard is a rigorous process that ensures the ethical treatment of birds. While down and feathers are a by-product of the meat industry, it has been the down and feather industry that has taken the lead in ensuring that birds being slaughtered for their meat are not force-fed or live plucked and that at each step in the supply chain this is respected and enforced. IDFL (International Down and Feather Laboratory) follows the chain of custody from farm to final product, with each step in the supply chain undergoing annual audits. Upon passing the audit, each facility is awarded a Certificate that verifies compliance. In addition to the Certificate issued with each sale and purchase of down and feathers as it goes from slaughter-house, to processor, to bulk down supplier, to factory, to retail- providing a verifiable paper trail and reinforcing the integrity and traceability of the program. The duvets, pillows and toppers below can be responsibly traced to the egg and have NOMITE® & Downafresh certificates as members of EDFA (European Down & Feather Association) who work to ensure bot compliance to labelling and traceability standards as well as supporting and driving animal welfare standards within the bedding industry.
