Neck pain is one of the most disabling and common musculoskeletal conditions globally. Having a sore, stiff, or painful neck can make it difficult to sleep. We have created this collection due to our own experience of neck and back problems and the ideal products we have to combat this issue and help you sleep.
SLEEPING ON YOUR FRONT - POSSIBLY THE WORST POSITION FOR YOUR NECK
Sleeping on your front / stomach is possibly one of the worst ways you can sleep and every osteopath in the land will try and talk you out of it. Sleeping on your stomach, with your head to one side and arms forward is just so bad for your neck. You might be able to get away with it as a child but unfortunately not as an adult. Our necks go through so much working at a computer, driving, etc and you really should avoid sleeping with you neck forward and on one side to reduce prolonged strain on the neck in one direction. If you must sleep on your stomach, then use a thinner softer pillow to prop up the forehead and create a more natural angle for the neck, but we are trying to help and avoid that if possible.
SLEEPING ON YOUR BACK - THE ULTIMATE NECK SLEEPING POSITION
There is no escaping that the number one way to sleep is on your back. I know it is hard to change the way we sleep but it can be done. I recently stayed away in a hotel and the sleeping surface was lovely and soft with an enhancer / bed topper that was just perfect to lay back on. Hotels always have super soft stripe cotton bed linen that somehow seems to help you sleep because its crisp, clean, inviting and fresh. We recently had a customer call as they stayed at a hotel that we supplied and had the best nights sleep and wanted the same duvet. It may sound odd that a duvet can help your neck and back, but creating that perfect sleeping environment can help you drift off in the perfect position. The main two duvets we supply to hotels are advanced synthetic Dacron Comforel and Aerelle Soft Flex which provide a light fluffy tucked in feeling. The pillows you sleep on is absolutely a crucial part of this perfect sleeping environment. To sleep on your back it is not ideal to use two pillows or a firm pillow because you will put strain on your neck. The ideal pillows are medium to soft as you can gentle sink back into the pillow and your head is cradled but soft enough to feel comfy.
