Welcome to our guide to a better nights sleep, this guide is designed to improve your understanding of sleep, from how to deal with problems getting to sleep, or simply how to get more of it. Full of useful tips, helping you to make the right bedding decisions for your family, guests, and of course, yourself.
We are all waking up to the link between a good night’s sleep and improved physical and mental wellbeing. But too many of us still neglect our bedding, settling for poor quality, one size fits all that are not fit for purpose. At The Linen Cupboard we specialise in all the hard to find sizes and not only offering specialist sizes but essential to ultimate luxury bedding options. We all want to lead healthier lives, and for many that means changing diets and exercising more. However, it’s easy to forget that a great night's sleep is a crucial ingredient to feeling great each and every day.
High quality comfortable bedding is key for great nights sleep, its important to have somewhere where you can just melt into a deep peaceful sleep however having strong stable regular bedtime routine is important too, as without a regular sleep pattern, your body clock will struggle to cope. However, if you are unable to go to bed at the same time each night, try to get some routine in the hour before you go to bed. Steer clear of devices and blue screens, like tablets and smartphones. Or why not have a bath or a shower to help you relax and unwind then cuddle yourself up in one of our luxury thick towels and get nettled into your cosy bed for a long relaxing nights sleep.
Some people wonder why they always sleep better in a hotel! Apart from the relaxing environment, bedding quality can affect sleep. Whether you're going for 40 winks or a full eight hours, you don’t have to have the highest thread count to get the most satisfying sleep, so let’s not worry too much about numbers.
Our Pima cotton is considered to be the finest type of cotton in the world. This natural fibre is characterised by its long durability, for its extremely soft feel and for having a silky shine. The fibers of the cotton plant used for Pima cotton are very long and silky, making it fine, smooth and very durable - it is said that Pima cotton lasts up to four times longer than normal cotton! SO GOOD EVERYONE AT THE LINEN CUPBOARD WANTS IT! Using quality yarns from South America that are longer than normal cotton strands allows this Pima Cotton to be woven to a very high thread count of 450 threads per square inch, however due to the super soft feel and the luxury thickness you would of thought it was a much higher thread count. Pima is made from a yarn which has been combed to remove the rougher, shorter staples to produce a long fine, luxuriously smooth thread, even finer than percale. If you want to drift off into bed time bliss then our 450 thread count Pima Count Bedding.
If you get Hot and Flustered during the night and struggle to get to sleep, here at the Linen Cupboard we have something to help. Our Coolmax Bespoke High Performance bed linen actively help you 'Keep Cool in Bed'. The unique wicking fabric provides relief for overheating at night whilst offering soft comfort of the very highest standard. This exceptional complete bedding range is proudly handmade in the UK, offering enhanced protection throughout the night. This bedlinen is wonderful to touch and sleep on, our customers regularly comment on the beautifully soft handle which stands comparison with very high count fine cotton fabrics. Moisture is transmitted rapidly along special cross channel fibres with increased surface area away from the body. Unlike cotton or polyester, this moisture is not absorbed inside the fibre itself. Coolmax has been proven in tests to have vastly improved breath ability and faster drying properties
One study looked at the benefits of a new bedding can enhance your sleep and additionally, poor-quality bedding can lead to uncomfortable sleep. The hotel experience is now easily recreated at home and without spending a fortune and our Hotel and Hospitality section provides this service, whether you want one or one hundred. It is recommended that you upgrade your bedding at least every 5–8 years. You don't realise how bad your bedding is until you replace it!
The wrong pillow can really be a pain in the neck, and leave you feeling out of sorts in the morning. We have a wide range of pillows to support every type of sleeper! The worst part about old pillows unfortunately is the hygiene and the affect on your health. We shed millions of dead skin cells everyday with a lot of them ending up in our pillows, thanks to us spending several hours a day laying on them. By the time your pillows are two years old, 10% of their weight is dust mites and dead skin cells.
Go on, indulge yourself. The smallest touches can make all the difference. Feathers and down do feel fabulous, but synthetic fillings can be just as cosy, and our NEW Aerelle® Grande Soft Flex Microfibre pillows are no exception! Feathered Products aren't for everyone, and here at the Linen Cupboard we completely get that. We fell in love as soon as we felt this new high-tech stuffing, as no matter how much you plump, squish or sit on them, the pillow's soft and springy fibres bounce back to their original shape almost instantly. High-tech filling fibres with amazing recovery powers are combined with a pleasant softness. The filling readily adapts to support the head and neck while its flexibility ensures extremely good recovery and shape retention of the pillows. Despite its snuggly squishiness, the volume of the Grande pillows remains stable for longer, making them wonderfully supportive for your head and neck, essential for waking up bright-eyed and crick-free. Plus, they are hypoallergenic, completely odourless and easy to clean, simply wash at 40°C and low tumble dry. As with most of our bedding, these luxury synthetic pillows are lovingly hand-filled in the UK and covered in a 300 thread count 100% cotton case for added all-night comfort.
If you prefer flying into bed with a feathered pillow then we have a lovely range of natural pillows, one of our favorite's is the Great Goose Feather & Down pillow. Goose Down is considered of superior quality to duck down simply because the down clusters, which do not contain a quill and have the ability to provide wonderful insulation, are bigger and lighter than those from a duck. More air is therefore trapped in between the goose down, making pillows containing goose down softer, lighter and warmer in winter, than pillows containing duck down and lovely and cool in the summer as they are naturally breathable.
At The Linen Cupboard we're committed to reducing our impact on the environment. To do this we are currently changing all our ranges to sustainable, ethical, responsible bedding with eco-friendly packaging. If becoming Greener is your cup of tea then you'll love our Smartdown Vegan Recycled Eco Pillows. Luxury that doesn't cost the earth! Smartdown pillows are one of our most luxurious yet sustainable products yet. Created from responsibly sourced raw materials, Smartdown pillow fibres are made from recycled plastic bottles, uniquely spun and blown in such a way that they simulate the handfeel and warmth of natural down. The pillows are wrapped in a soft 280 thread count, sustainably sourced cotton cover and finished by hand. Drift off in incredible luxury with this beautiful bedding with a conscience.
To keep your pillows in tip top condition, we would recommend washing every 6 months. A good habit to form is to wash your pillows when switching your duvet for a new season. Before cleaning your pillows, always check the care label on the pillows for clarity on washing temperatures and the suitability of tumble drying and dry cleaning. Given the generous fill in pillows, we recommend using a professional laundering service at your local dry cleaner. Their large capacity washing machines and dryers are best suited to the dense fills of these products. If you do choose to wash your pillow at home it is essential that you do not overload your washing machine and that it is 100% dry before using to avoid clumping or ruining the filling.
We all wash our bed sheets frequently, but how many of us can say we are as diligent about laundering our duvet? After all, washing the bed linen every week can be tedious enough, let alone the rest of the bedding. But our duvets take a real battering (around 56 hours a week), the sweat, dribble, dead skin and other grime from our heads and bodies (sorry!) is getting all over them. Years can go by without duvets even getting a wash never mind getting replaced, so for the ultimate healthier, happier sleep maybe its time for a new duvet.
Synthetic, natural or feather & down? Temperature regulation or insulation? Having the right duvet, at the right time of year is an essential part of your sleep wardrobe. By combining the finest fibre fillings with innovative fabrics, our range of synthetic duvets is better than ever. The range is not only luxurious but also a practical choice for allergy sufferers and those who wash their duvet frequently.
Our Ultra Dreamy Snow Drift Fossflakes® Duvets are perfect choice for the non feathered lovers. handling the ultra snow drift fossflakes is a silky smooth experience and when sleeping under one they just melt onto you like butter! Massively popular in Scandinavia, the filling is now imported and hand crafted in the UK. The duvets are like nothing we have stocked before! The Fossflakes Ultra Drift Duvet filling material is a unique blend of 70% Fossflakes Essential (polyethylene) and 30% Fossflakes Clusters (siliconized polyester fibers). A blend that makes the duvets soft, yet durable and long lasting. Thanks to its design, the unique and patented filling material distributes itself evenly, is always re-fluffable and will not form lumps after use or wash.
What could be snugglier than a Feather Duvet? A natural insulator, feathers have been used to keep us warm for generations. At The Linen Cupboard, we sell both Duck and Goose Feather and Down Duvets, in a range of togs and sizes, at prices you’ll be hard pressed to find elsewhere. One of our personal favourites is the European Gorgeous 85% Goose Down Duvet, look no further for bedding that will wrap you in luxury.
The filling is sourced from the coldest corners of Europe and boasts extra loft for a duvet that gives a warm snuggly effect thanks to the 85% pure white goose down clusters. These hand filled duvets are produced to the highest quality, the 300 thread count cotton case is made with a baffle wall box construction to minimise filling movement and eliminate "cold spots". Sleeping under this duvet is just like sleeping under a cloud. And a even bigger bonus that the filling is Strictly Ethically Sourced & Ethically Made! It's also approved by Oeko-Tex, EDFA and No-mite for extra reassurance. This collection feels amazing and oozes you off into a deep peaceful sleep.
And if you want to follow the modern trend and help the world you live in, our ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY - ETHICAL & SUSTAINABLE DUVETS will be right up your street! We take pride in our ethical and sustainable efforts, and we have been focusing on improving our duvets to make them more environmentally friendly. Its not just about what the products are made from, but how they are made, the impact on the environment and the waste that is produced. Sleep sustainably knowing you’ve contributed to the Earth’s clean up – 100% bedding with a conscience.
