The Linen Cupboard, Yorkshire. Purveyors of the finest quality Bed Linen for over a decade. Everything we do is responsibly managed and every decision we make is environmentally focused.
Featured in numerous magazine and newspaper articles, the Linen Cupboard is an independently owned and run business, located in the heart of Yorkshire. For over 20 years we have earned the reputation as the UK's original (and best) specialist size bed linen company. Newcomers have tried to imitate, in name, but they have never matched the quality of our linen or the level of service we deliver.
The Linen Cupboard was established in 1998 in these early years The Linen Cupboard was never a Store or an Online Retailer, before all of this started we were driving around the UK and through Europe while creating textile exhibitions. As we carried on working hard and traveling the UK, we started to get a good reputation and we built a network with suppliers and consumers.
We started working with some of the biggest textile distributors in the UK. In 2002 we manged to get our own store in the centre of a beautiful town called Holmfirth. Sitting in the heart of the breath-taking Holme Valley, it was certainly a picture-postcard. The Linen Cupboard Family started to grow and we had a great team working hard delivering high quality bedding to our customers. We got our second store in Brighouse in 2005, the quality of our bedding spoke a thousand words and we had people visiting from all over.
In 2006 we could see the impact the Internet had, and the potential growth we could have from online retail. We launched the website and the reaction we got was slow as a many people weren’t committing to online shopping. But we were ahead of our time and patience would prove to be successful. We closed down the Holmfirth store and focused on trading from our larger shop in Brighouse this allowed us more time to focus on the growth of the website and our online presents. We grew to the point where we could rely on online orders only and closed down the Brighouse store and just focused on the online retail. And this is where we are today, a lot of hard years creating new content and building up the website.
2021 we've moved to a larger more Eco minded distribution centre. Covid-19 has changed the world as we know it. Millions of us had a sudden need to work remotely and minimise social contact. Overnight, this led to a massive impact on internet retailers everywhere, with demand rocketing through the roof. We have moved to a new distribution Centre, to cope with the increase demands through the pandemic and for the welfare and safety of The linen Cupboard Team. We are continually improving and adapting our distribution centre to improve delivery efficiency, the changes we have made means we can cope with the increase in orders safely. The new distribution Centre is closer to all of the Linen cupboard team meaning the commute is smaller and less fossil fuels are being used and our carbon footprint has decreased. Even some of the Linen Cupboard Team are part of the cycle to work scheme. The New Distribution Centre is a rejuvenated industrial factory in the heart of Yorkshire Farm Land., that is close to all major transport links. Which is better and easier for all of our deliveries we receive in a day.
Over the past two years we have been working on making the Linen Cupboard fully ethically responsible. We have made great progress over the 2 years, and the majority of our supplies are helping us along this journey too. At The Linen Cupboard we're committed to reducing our impact on the environment. To do this we are currently changing all our ranges to sustainable, ethical, responsible bedding with eco-friendly packaging. We want the UK to wake up to a better more Eco Friendly Night’s Sleep. Packaging is an unavoidable part of everyday life. And that applies to bedding too however we have put in certain procedures that are minimising our carbon foot print. Protecting the world we all live in. Here at the Linen Cupboard we use packaging everyday for many reasons, for one we like to protect our products. Meaning you can take delivery of the products at the highest standard possible. Packaging also helps as it allows for safe transportation. We are passionate and committed to the ethical sourcing of all our products, and using as many recycled materials as possible. We are committed and working with all our suppliers to move to 100% recyclable plastic packaging.
At The Linen Cupboard, we specialise in superior quality flat and fitted sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases for most sizes of UK, European and American beds (including all Ikea sized linen). Our customers from all over the country and abroad expect high quality products at very competitive prices - and we don't disappoint. We know how difficult it is to find specialist size bedding which is why keep 90% of our products in stock, for a quick and efficient delivery service.
We have been using fabrics and fibres made from recycled materials to make quality fillings and fabrics for many years now. We’re experts in the Bedding industry and are very aware of the environmental impact this can have. We’re careful to operate our business in a manner that reduces our impact on the environment, prevents pollution, and protects resources. REDUCE – they are believed to be 46,000 pieces of plastic in every square mile of ocean; we are continuing to strive towards reusing and recycling packing and providing solutions to reduce single use plastic. RECYCLE – recycling just one plastic bottle saves enough energy to power a 60W light bulb for six hours. We continue to recycle all of our packing and encourage our suppliers to recycle anything they can. We are constantly introducing new recycled products that are sustainable and have a positive impact on the environment. REUSE -75% of post consumer plastic waste is sent to landfill; working closely with key strategic partners we can trace and certify fibres back to the source producing quality fillings and fabrics.
Over 50% of the products we sell are sourced in the UK. Call us biased, but most of which is from the North. Bed linen is our heritage, and some of the very best is made right here on our doorstep. It also makes good sense to reduce transportation and fuel consumption. By supporting British manufacturing, we lessen the impact freight has on our environment, boost local economy and sustain traditions.
We sell thousands of specialist fitted sheets, flat sheets, valance, duvet covers, pillowcases made right here in British hemming units which is quite rare these days and something we are extremely proud of. When it comes to bed linen, whatever the size, fabric or colour, we know our stuff. You can always be certain that The Linen Cupboard will bring you the finest bedding.
A lot of Internet based companies do not provide a phone number, but you can call The Linen Cupboard for help, advice or to place an order, Mon to Fri 9am until 5pm.
